DEFINITION:

Supervises and participates in the work of medical electronics maintenance unit engaged in the maintenance, repair, testing, installation and modification of medical electronics equipment.

Essential Job Functions
Plans, assigns, supervises and inspects the work of a unit engaged in the maintenance, repair, testing, installation and modification of medical electronics equipment.

Lays out jobs and makes labor and material cost estimates.

Coordinates the work of subordinates with other operating units.

Consults with vendors and other County department representatives regarding installation, maintenance and operation of equipment.

Plans and schedules inspection and preventative maintenance programs.

Ensures compliance with safety regulations and observance of safe work practices.

Requisitions and orders parts and supplies as needed to maintain shop production.

Keeps shop records and makes reports as required.

Participates in the development, fabrication, modification and testing of specialized medical electronic equipment.

Performs the work of Medical Electronics Technician as needed.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
One (1) year of experience at the level of Medical Electronics Technician*.

LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Physical Class III - Moderate :
Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
VISION:Color perception must be normal other than for a minor hue impairment (mild as recorded on AO H-R-R Pseudoisochromatic or similar plates). Applicants who show other than normal or minor hue impairment may be tested, at the discretion of the Director of Personnel, with sample color-coded electric wires.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
*Experience at the level of Medical Electronics Technician in the service of theCounty of Los Angeles is defined as maintains, repairs, tests, configures, and sets up medical electronic equipment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience supervising staff involved in working with medical electronics equipment.
  • Experience utilizingvarious computer software programs such as MicrosoftWord, Excel orPowerPoint.

Additional Information
EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience based upon application information and desirable qualifications weighted100%.

Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher in orderto be added to the eligible register.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
Applications will be processed on an "as-received" basis and those receiving a passing score will be promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.

The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.

NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.

SPECIAL INFORMATION :
Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

The resulting eligibleregister from this examination will be used to fill vacancieslocated atRancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and LAC+USC Medical Center.
