PURPOSE OF THE JOB This position plans, coordinates and manages County Nutrition Services programs, activities and staff to ensure programs are in compliance with Federal, State and County guidelines and regulations. Provides high-risk nutrition counseling to women, infants and children in Gila County.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Regularly assigns work to other employees and supervises related activities. Provides recommendations on hiring employees; employee training; promotions and granting time-off. Makes final decision on scheduling work hours of employees; evaluating employee performance; handling employee grievances and coaching.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

TIME SPENT

• Prepares program budget (contract) proposals, participates in contract negotiations and monitors compliance. 20%
• Manages caseload and priority distribution with an outreach plan, appointment scheduling, waiting lists and waiting lists sorted by priority. 20%

• Prepares County and State narrative reports, inventory lists and contractors expenditure reports. 20%
• Manages clinic operations: hours, appointments, schedules and manages staff on a daily basis. 20%
• Develops a Nutrition Care Plan for each risk factor, including the procedures for identifying high-risk clients and documentation of an internal referral process. 20%

• Performs other duties as assigned.
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reviews, edits and provides recommendations on department level budget.

PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides project resource allocation based on pre-approved limits involving organizational development projects, employee training and development projects.

ORAL COMMUNICATION DUTIES
This position trains colleagues, explains County procedures or processes, responds to public inquiries, participates in meetings and give presentations.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION DUTIES
This position creates or edits documents, internal memos, emails, reports, procedures, Board of Supervisor presentation materials and contracts.

INTERACTIONS WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC
Interacts extensively with employees, customers, the general public, vendors, regulatory bodies, and other groups and/or individuals and Institutions over the telephone, by email, and/or in person.

INTERACTIONS SPECIFICALLY WITH CUSTOMERS
Always (More than 85% in a year).

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition, Public Health or related field.

MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED One (1) year experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS REQUIRED/PREFERRED Registered Dietician

PROTECTIVE GEAR & SAFETY MANUALS
Incumbents in this position are required to constantly follow written safety procedures and manuals relevant to the division or department. May be required to utilize rubber gloves.

SPECIFIC CONDITION Incumbents in this position must be able to work 10 -15 hours a week. Has reliable transportation.
