The Programmer/Analyst-I performs entry-level analysis, programming, as well as other technical and administrative duties related to the design, establishment, enhancement, and support of Richland County's application software environment. This person has entry-level skills in the computer languages used by the RCIT Department. Uses entry-level skills to analyze, design and develop new computer programs, and modify existing computer programs. Will assist in determining impact of new or changed software on existing systems. Will assist in research of potential new software systems. Will be mentored by senior and intermediate programmers to obtain more advanced skills and perform more advanced duties. Will assist in interviewing users in order to gain a better understanding of applications and needs. Reviews and assists in the creation of requirements definitions. Will assist in the creation of feasibility studies. May interact with Richland County department heads and their designated representatives. May interact with outside consultants and outside vendors. Travels in personal car to computer sites throughout the County. Reports to the RCIT Business Systems Division.
Must have a two-year degree in a field applicable to this position or equivalent professional experience. High School diploma is required. Must be able to supply written proof of completion for all course work and/or degrees that are being used to satisfy the minimum requirements. Certification in Agile methodology is preferred. Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License (or acquire it within 90 days of employment).
