T he Park & Recreation Department is recruiting to hire 4 Summer Seasonal Mobile Recreation Site Supervisors to plan, organize and implement a highly diversified Mobile Recreation camp program for youth ages 5 to 14. Mobile Recreation Summer Day Camp is a great place to make a positive impact through character development, literacy programs, arts and crafts, team building, recreational activities and a healthy lifestyle.
The positions will work up to 40 hours. ( These positions are Seasonal with no benefits)
Responsibilities include supervision, planning, coordination, development and implementation of a wide variety of recreational, leisure, athletic and educational programs.
Duties include, but not are not limited to:
Develop and implement weekly educational, cultural, and recreational needs; coordinate indoor and outdoor activities; plan and implement arts and crafts activities; maintain cleanliness and order of the facilities; maintain discipline with the campers consistent with department policy, maintain a high level of safety indoors and outdoors; supervise field trips, assist with swimming trips in which Mobile Recreation staff is required to get in the water; submits and inputs daily attendance into computer systems, incident reports, disciplinary action forms, be familiar with all Camp policies including the Standards of Care. This position requires extensive telephone and public contact skills. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with parents, children and other staff members.
The Mobile Recreation Site Supervisor positions begin early to prepare for camp starting April/May 2019 and ends August 2, 2019. Must commit to work the entire Mobile Recreation Summer Day Camp Program, which is June 10 - July 26, 2019. Mandatory orientation is required one week prior to camp. The successful applicant will work the first part of each day at a city park and afternoons are spent indoors at an adjacent school.
Minimum Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years' experience leading children's activities for youth ages 5 - 14 in a recreational and educational environment and a minimum of six (6) months supervisory experience is required.
Relevant, completed college hours are preferred but not mandatory. A copy of transcript is required at the time of application.
Valid Texas driver's license.
Possession of or ability to obtain a CPR, First Aid, and AED certification during the first 30 days of employment.
Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint computer skills are required.
Bilingual skills, Spanish/English preferred.
