The purpose of the class is to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and equipment; to coordinate major repairs as needed, and to perform related duties as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training in plumbing or a closely related field. Must complete a four-year apprenticeship program in plumbing maintenance and repair. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Requires four years of experience.
