  • City of Austin Office of the City Engineer provides engineering support, guidance and technical advice to Street and Bridge Operations and other internal and external customers on development and construction in the Public Right-Of-Way.

    This position within the Office of the City Engineer oversees the Bridge Management and Review program. Under limited/minimal supervision and using considerable latitude for imitative and independent judgement, perform complex engineering work that includes: engineering reviews, overseeing work in support of the ROW development/construction, maintenance, alteration of structures. May perform engineering design and planning.

  • This position is considered "essential" to maintain critical operations and core services, including public health, safety and utility services, in the event of an emergency. This means employees in this position will be required to report to work even in the event of bad weather, natural disaster, or other unforeseen circumstances that necessitate an emergency closure of City operations.

    Eng. C - $36.53 - $48.34
    Eng. B-$34.80 - $45.18

    Hours
    Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm

    Hours may vary depending on work demands and business needs.

    • Structural Texas P.E. License.
    • Construction experience in bridges, railing systems, sidewalks, street drainage items, right - of way, pavement design standards, and specifications.
    • Experience with Bridge Management System ( BMIS ), operating, maintaining, and improving.
    • Experience with infrastructure management systems, programming, especially as it relates to database applications, data manipulations, data validation, analysis, and reporting.
    • Experience with ArcMap, ArcGIS, and Bridge Management Systems ( BMIS ).
    • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
    • Experience investigating citizen complaints and requests in relation to bridge conditions, maintenance, and failures.
    • Ability to travel to more than one work location.
