Job Description

**Although there is a salary range for this position, the candidate hired into this position will be hired at the bottom of the salary range.**

Performs a variety of technical engineering support functions in the FAST Traffic Management Center to include traffic and incident management support, construction management and special event traffic services.


Working Conditions: May work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Work Experience: Equivalent to a high school diploma and three (3) years of demonstrated technical engineering or traffic operations experience.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Background Investigation: Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission in this position is contingent upon the results of a comprehensive education/experience background investigation, social security trace, and a criminal and driving history record checks.

Monitors closed circuit video of freeways and arterials; notifies appropriate agencies, responders and RTC staff of events/incidents. Creates, edits and displays messages on electronic Dynamic Message Signs to include incident traveler information, construction mitigation and regional Amber Alert notification. Creates and modifies plans, drawings and other engineering design, construction and maintenance materials. Assists in calculation, research and composition of engineering/traffic data. Monitors, creates, updates and archives traffic signal timing plans for signal coordination; programs traffic signal timing plans into new or replacement traffic signal controllers for member agencies. Participates in meetings to discuss, clarify and resolve subject areas and issues. Assists field technicians and construction inspection staff with timing plan changes and system device tests as required. Operates a variety of office equipment, to include computers and associated software (e.g., Intelligent Transportation Systems software). Provides information and assistance to internal and external customers as required. All other duties as assigned.
