About Our Job This position is open until Thursday, June 27, 2019. The Denver Police Department's Crime Laboratory is seeking applicants for an Administrative Support Assistant IV position in the Quality Assurance Unit. This position provides administrative support to all laboratory personnel and assists in the retention of required documentation that demonstrates compliance to ISO 17025. The Denver Crime Laboratory is comprised of nine units, including the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, the Forensic Chemistry Unit, the Trace Evidence Unit, the Firearms/Toolmarks Unit, the Latent Print Unit, Forensic Imaging Unit, the Forensic Biology/DNA section, and the Quality Assurance Unit. The Denver Crime Laboratory strives to aid victims through excellence in criminal investigation. In partnership with the rest of the Denver Police Department, the Crime Laboratory employs a variety of men and women, civilian and police officers, to augment the investigation of criminal acts in order to make Denver a safer place to live. Job responsibilities include: Processes daily requests for forensic analysis of evidence. Request information is entered into the laboratory information management system(LIMS) and distributed to the appropriate forensic unit. Paginate and file completed case files. Digitizes cases files and electronically applies pages numbers. Attaches electronic copies of the case file to the LIMS database. Files the original hard copy. Process requests for discovery. Works with analysts to confirm all case information is provided electronically to defense and district attorneys for trial. Serves as a backup to other members of the QA Unit by answering phone calls for the laboratory and major crimes. Denver's ASA IV's perform a wide variety of clerical based work. When providing your years of clerical experience in the application, please note that we consider all/any of the following to be clerical/administrative duties: Record keeping; cashiering; bookkeeping; preparing and processing vouchers, invoices, and requisitions; filing; document tracking/management; utilizing a computer to input information/data and creating reports; performing word processing, spreadsheets and/or presentation materials; monitoring and tracking a budget and/or preparing budget-related documents; providing the public with general and/or explanatory information; explaining and clarifying rules, processes, and procedures; and/or compiling information and generating reports. About You Our ideal candidate: Has experience working in a crime laboratory or law enforcement/legal setting Is proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and has knowledge of other databases Possesses excellent customer service skills including verbal and written communication We recognize your time is valuable, so please do not apply unless you have at least: Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. Experience: Three (3) years of full performance office support/clerical work experience (type and level of an Administrative Support Assistant III). Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
